Xbox 720 To Be Announced At CES 2012?

Moyo November 15, 2011 26

According to a French gaming website, Microsoft’s latest games console will be announced at CES 2012.

While CES has little to do with gaming, it does have everything to do with technology — especially new technology. Apparently, the big  reveal will be mainly based on specifications, which could include a hex-core CPU with 2GB of DDR3 and a prototype dual-GPU from AMD; sounds great, doesn’t it?

Also, according to Xboxygen, Sony knows of this impending reveal and is planning on revealing the PS4 soon after. Now before you start jumping around in excitement or start reaching for you wallet, be sure to understand that none of this is official so we should take it with a grain of salt.

Tell us in the comments, what do you think? Possible or rubbish?

    only two gigs of ram?

ugh now all my PC games are going to have even lower rez textures since nobody will make a game on PC first and then port second.

Seriously? I hope you realize that desktop computers use more ram for other things than games. 2GB of ram is fine for a system that primarily just runs games.

Maybe now, but not in 1-2 years.
When I expect this to be released.

On most games with large maps, 2 GB is the absolute minimum to RUN the game, let alone SMOOTHLY.

Look, obviously you’re confused as to how much RAM your computer exhausts on system processes, services, and Windows. Right now, open up your Task Manager>Performance tab and look at your available RAM. Also look at how much is being used with no games running whatsoever. Please tell me you understand now.

    DDR3… bwahahahaha
PS3 and XBOX360 use faster memory. Case closed.

But there’s so little of it, it doesn’t help when playing a game in 1080p.

The amount of ram is more important than its speed, up to the point where there is enough to run the program.

don’t be retards. the ram on the xbox 360 and ps3 is lower than 1GB. so stop fucking complaing!

Yes, let’s stall progress by allowing consoles to fall behind PCs even further, when they can do so much more…

The ps3 was released in 2006, six years ago. For the time, it’s specs we’re good enough and the games were amazing.

If a Xbox with these specs came out in the near future it would be adorned and fawned over as “PC class graphics,” which it is! The problem is that why would they give it an extremely powerful CPU, GPU, but give it so little ram?

I don’t think this rumor is worth my time anymore since I doubt the next Xbox will have these specs…

      Keyword: “sufficient”

The games this year can run on 2 GB of RAM.
      Maybe next year.
But a ten year console cycle with only 2 GB of RAM is silly.

      Memory is cheap.

Besides, you are forgetting the background processes and services that will have to run on the Xbox. Xbox live will take up some of that.
